Mediafire Pokemon Soul Silver

Small resistors 5. The revelation against surprise.

"Small Resistors 5" is an anthology on the current story published in 2010 by the editorial pages of foam under the direction of Andrew Neuman. I think both this anthology, as its complementary in many respects "Siglo XXI. The new names of the current English tale" are essential for any fan of the story.

This reading of course, there are other, thanks to the discovery of authors and styles. In the meantime, Cristina Grande wins positions in my authors "to read". And some I did not like anything, but to judge an author by a single story seems too bold, and I reserve my suspicions.

addition to the stories chosen to give a vision of a heterogeneous production around, sometimes controversial, gender of the story, the book includes a final questionnaire in which the authors anthologized respond to several questions about literature and gender. In this questionnaire, many authors emphasize something that had already been detected: the rejection from critics and the authors themselves are to the stories with surprise ending, what stories are usually called "rounds." As for me, this rejection has shades, I like to realize them. Try to do a classification:

1) Stories in which the end comes a crazy surprise that no progress at any time in the previous text. For example, any deus ex machina or "in the end it was a dream and woke up."
2) Stories in which the end there is a complete data that previous ones and have come forward with what the story ends with the plot.
3) Stories in which the end is revealed that makes something so essential that summarizes the whole story forces the reader to revive him but from a new point of view.
4) stories without any revelation, which are not circular but linear. Say photographed a tiny portion of the flow of a story suggesting the reader the rest.

seems that the current trend is to pursue the final Type 4. In this search, detect the same rogue that already existed and exists in abstract painting and painting pop: I think sometimes pretends to tell what is merely a text written more or less well (in the same way sometimes posing as art things that are not, and obviously, this is my opinion, of course.) The story should be there, no matter how minimal has been targeted, so we can talk about story. As a reader, much discriminate between what I read in this group and what I like, I love and what not, I hate it. That is, I find stark contrasts between the works that was initially ascribed to such end. As a writer, Moreover, I find very difficult to obtain.

Clearly by his rudeness, tales of group 1 are disposable and do not think you have to explain more. Those in Group 2, within which may be correct, not excite me as a reader (and I know that I write many times).

The group 3 are the ones I find most interesting and satisfying my expectations further. Here we speak not of surprise but of revelation. No shock, but the feeling of discovery. This is the kind of story that I aspire to write. I think the group 4, when quality is not merely a variant of this group 3, only the disclosure required by the reader some additional effort needs.

on this in the end, I started reading some time ago a compilation of all the tales of Cristina Peri Rossi and although at first I thought it was fantastic, I started slowly getting tired of the constant surprise (say, type 2.5 ) waiting at the end of each story. I know I will give him a second chance in this book but for now I finally get tired of so many surprises.

And yet, there is a story of Cristina Fernández Cubas, I have as a reference because I love, "The world", without appearing to, belongs to group 3. The revelation is a phrase or a few words, not screams you to flip a line but the revelation is how the story unfolds and how the actions of the characters do to understand more deeply their humanity, their contradictory nature, evolution and whys.

Satisfied my need to realize this round me head, I keep the search against the surprise disclosure but also explore the areas most avant-garde, always so interesting ...

The concept of cluster (3 of 3)

the chest of memories came to receive the documentation of my final project. I was surprised to reread the introduction to my work (a computer simulation framework applied to cache coherence in NUMA machines) and I clearly see what they say: I am of letters and a mole in the technology world. I'll post the introduction of three fragments. To put this into context, let us consider that I wrote back in 2005, I have not changed a comma and then it was probably a lot smarter now ...

The first of these solutions would be to overcome the disabilities of computing power and speed of the fastest processors possible to build (and cheaper) combining the skills of many simple processors. Thus, computing clusters has allowed the treatment volume surprising information and respond to unmet needs of power before. Would for example, computing clusters rendered images, modeling weather or stock. And as crude version of such clusters would appear the load-balancing clusters that share the work between various machines semiparalela. For example in the case of web server farms that share the responsibility to meet the requests of the customers' browsers.

other hand, the redundancy of some of the sensors and processors of human organisms inspire other types of clusters. Clusters of high availability or fault tolerant, able to cope their duties with tolerable loss of performance even after a failure in one of its elements.

But the clusters have managed to generate a new computational model comparable to that of the Turing machine? The answer is no. Finally, improvements have been made (not always) at the speed of execution of complex algorithms, but in theory there is nothing to prevent a Turing machine to perform the same task. Does this mean that this line of research is dead and useless? Here each of the parties to the dispute give their own version of events.

as technology clusters would undeniably useful and practical. On the one hand, freeing the computing capacity of the machines of progress in building processors with more capacity and higher cost. The power to solve a task with items cheaper and more scalable systems has obvious advantages in the real world application of information technology. So in this sense does not seem likely cease to exist, this type of machine or leave it for research in this line.

However, from the theoretical point of view we have seen that this type of equipment has revolutionized the science as some expected and that finally brings no new computing model. What has been the failure? The initial idea based on observation of human beings and their complex parallel processing did not seem wrong, the question is what are the computer clusters or parallel machines really only give an illusion of parallelism? If the algorithms implemented on a cluster computer can theoretically (without limitation of time and memory) to run on a Turing machine, it is clear that parallelism does not exist and is merely an illusion of parallelism equal to that already existed in the machines uniprocessor running multithreaded applications and multi-parallel giving an impression of unreality. However, the research should not be abandoned as invalid, because there is no evidence that is incorrect, the results achieved are not yet satisfactory.

This search for a new parallel computing model really has not been abandoned at all. The new concepts provided by relativity in the physical sciences and experimental studies have come to open up new scenarios for this new parallel model. Quantum computers can address a new computer model in which computing states would no longer be 0 or 1 binary and exclusive but could coexist simultaneously. In this sense (moving parallel and could not be otherwise so) the newest theories in psychological science begin to model the mental processes of the same way: with simultaneous states. That is, with real parallelism.

So, in my view the evolution of computing as a science will present identification and realization of this new computational model. On the other hand, computing and technology will continue to address, given its advantages, and for quite some time building and improving multiprocessor machines or clusters.

Proponents of strong AI, heirs to the association psychology, based his belief in the strength of the Turing model in which complex algorithms that define the mental processes have only been out of the current practical achievements Turing machine technology disability. It would be enough for them to increase the ability to create more complex and fast processors for more complex algorithms could be resolved in human times (assuming that these algorithms are definable).

Moreover, as we have seen, another line of research would deny the Turing completeness of the model itself and explore new practical achievements of prototypes based on existing technologies. In this sense, it addresses the implementation of algorithms in parallel: the same way that the functioning of a human being is based on the binding of the mini work of millions of singles (Neurons) that deal with small amounts of information received by their systems of input / output (sensory organs), and the future model that correctly completed the current machine would be based on the parallel execution of different tasks by processors, not necessarily complex, and the final processing of all this information in a kernel, not necessarily nuclear, ie they could be distributed on several machines-that would serve as the brain in the machine.

Thus arises the concept of cluster could be defined as a set of computers that come together to contribute, in aggregate, to better performance total computer. We might refer to high-performance multiprocessor machines by a particular manufacturer or sets of computers built using common hardware components, typically personal computers. The clusters will provide from the technological point of view, from its origins, solutions to problems that were left unresolved.

The concept of cluster (1 of 3)

the chest of memories came to receive the documentation of my final project. I was surprised to reread the introduction to my work (a computer simulation framework applied to cache coherence in NUMA machines) and I clearly see what they say: I'm from Lyrics and infiltrated into the technological world. I'll post the introduction of three fragments. To put this into context, let us consider that I wrote back in 2005, I have not changed a comma and then it was probably a lot smarter now ...

Since the beginning of computing as a science until the present, through its emergence as a technology after the Second World War, their movement has followed two parallel paths often closely related: first computer science appears as an effort to model the unknown human mind and its processes using the tools offered him mathematics, is well placed the service of research in the field of psychology and illustrates its modeling existing controversies in this field. On the other hand, is converted to happen in practical technology in a way that allows information processing tasks above (in speed and volume) that you can make a human.

We are heirs of the original concept of the Turing machine defined, but this machine seems in some areas of science as inadequate and clumsy. Thus, cognitive psychologists found that modeling of the human mind that can afford a Turing machine is partial and crude and leaves unexplained many of the mental processes more complex and beautiful human beings. And furthermore, for artificial intelligence appear as obstacles frustrating limitations of this model to run complex algorithms that allow machines to increase their capacities to human levels.

Presumably, this double path of development followed by information technology remains the model of evolution of this discipline. Thus, as more advance knowledge about our own mental processes even more advance technology, allowing us to create artificial minds increasingly similar to those of humans. If the Turing machine appears to be insufficient, you should see new models.
